JACOB STEIN
The person being interveiwed is Jacob Stein.
He was 60 years old and was Russo- jewish.
The interview takes place in New York City.
The date of the interview is Dec. 5, 1938.
The Inter viewer is B. Hathaway.

His family came to New York in 1905 when he was 17 years old. He was framed for having illegal ballots. "Mike the boss" gave them to him to keep dry on a rainy day. He never came back and a few minutes later a cop arrested him because the ballots were marked. He was put in jail and now he is a bum.
The great depression did not seem to have a major impact on Jacob. He would have been arrested any ways. He was holding marked ballots and they would have had no way to prove that he was guilty. But, the great depression did affect him when he was out of jail. He would have been able to get a job and get back to his old way of life.
